The scrap

There are three types of steel scraps:

- Returned scraps: originated from the steel mill during the manufacturing process of the most varied types of steel;
- Scrap from processing: resulting from the industrial activities (automobile industry, packaging, naval, civil construction, among others);
- Scrap from obsolescence: originating from the collection of unusable products (automobiles, machines, stoves, refrigerators, among others).

When steel is produced entirely from the scrap, there is a significant reduction of air pollution (of up to 85%) and of water consumption of (up to 76%), apart from the elimination of all the impacts resulting from the mining activity.
